Export your whole Framer CMS
Every collection in one go: a complete JSON file with fields, items, drafts, rich text and translations, plus a CSV per collection for spreadsheets. Useful before a redesign, a client handover, an Agent or branch merge, or a bulk import.
How it works
- In the Framer editor, open Site Settings → General and create a Server API key for the project.
- Paste the project URL and the key above.
- FrameVault reads each collection through Framer's Server API and sends the result straight back to your browser. The JSON and CSV files are built on your device.
What happens to your key and content
Nothing is saved. The key is used for this one request and is not written to a database, a file or our logs, and the content is not stored on our side. The tool only reads: it cannot change or delete anything in your project. If you prefer, delete the key in Framer as soon as the download finishes. More on how FrameVault handles keys in general is on the security page.
What the export contains, and what it doesn't
- All collections the Server API can see, with field definitions and every item, including drafts.
- Rich text keeps its HTML in the JSON. In the CSV it is flattened to plain text.
- Images and files are their hosted URLs, not copies of the files.
- Localized text, rich text and link values are kept per locale in the JSON.
- Page layouts, components and site settings are not CMS content and are not included.
The CSV vs JSON guide explains each format's trade-offs. Very large projects may exceed what one request can return; a free account handles those in the background.
Prefer to export from inside the Framer editor, without a Server API key? The free FrameVault Backup plugin downloads the same JSON snapshot, or one collection as CSV.
A one-off export isn't a backup
Framer's version history covers the canvas, not CMS items. A file you exported last month won't have this week's posts. FrameVault takes this same snapshot on a schedule, keeps dated copies, emails you when items disappear between backups and restores items or whole collections back into Framer.
